Katherine Roe Ph.D.

Katherine Roe, Ph.D., is chief scientist with the Laboratory Investigations Department of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). After earning her Ph.D. in psychology and cognitive science from the University of California–San Diego and completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, she worked as a research fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health for eight years, studying neural correlates of language, spatial, and memory processes and working with children with early focal brain injury, adults and children with schizophrenia, and individuals with Williams syndrome and related genetic disorders. At PETA, Dr. Roe works to educate young scientists on the failures of animal experiments and liaises with government funding agencies, universities, and corporations to end harmful and ineffective neuroscience and psychological experiments on animals.
