Joan Sharp MSFS

Joan Sharp has a mission to Change the Conversation from Money to Vision for individuals and families to support their values, life experience, legacy, and wealth. She assists clients in how to use their human talent and financial resources to make confident choices that achieve their vision, support their values, and establish their legacy.

Joan's ideals include keeping an open mind, living by your vision, working in service to others, practicing self-advocacy, striving for inner harmony, and making a difference. With a drive for continuous improvement, Joan has a breadth of experience and education, holding a BS in Economics from Southern Methodist University and an MS in Financial Services from The American College. While honing her financial planning skills at wealth advisory companies as a certified financial planner (CFP®), Joan noticed a disconnect between a person's vision and their resources.

Joan is trained and holds certifications in Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®), Registered Life Planner®(RLP®), and Certified Financial Transitionist®(CeFT™). Joan learned at a young age to appreciate that everyone's vision and perspective differs – no matter the topic. Having seen the need to make finances more personal, Joan became a Kolbe Certified™ Consultant and built her business to serve the need of prioritizing vision before resources. When Joan works with clients, she tries to instill self-advocacy in them by asking questions about their interests, listening, and learning how they see the world. Joan built her business by pointing out the underlying vision and values of a person and helping to plan resources as it relates to their ideals.

Much of her time is spent in service to philanthropic endeavors. Philanthropic work for Joan started in high school with American Field Services. As an example of the variety of organizations she has partnered with, in the past, Joan was president of the YWCA of Delaware, on the Board of the Delaware Art Museum, and was the recipient of the Governor of Delaware’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. Today, Joan continues to spend her time outside of the office, partnering with philanthropies whose mission and ideals align with her own. She is also a member of several professional organizations, such as the Wilmington Rotary.

Joan intends to give the gift of empowerment and inspiration by supporting her clients to see what can come from considering an individual's vision before resources. She speaks on the same topic for various organizations, some of which include those in support of women. Joan hopes to leave a legacy of empowerment, where people are living and communicating their vision and purpose – changing the conversation for years to come.
