Guest Profile
Dr. Marilyn Wedge
Marilyn Wedge, Ph.D. is a family therapist who has helped children, adolescents and families since 1988. She began writing her revolutionary new book, Suffer the Children: The Case Against Labeling and Medicating and an Effective Alternative, when she saw more and more children coming to therapy already taking psychiatric medications.
Suffer the Children draws on her years of experience with hundreds of families. The book shows how parents can be empowered to turn around their child's problem behaviors safely and effectively, without the use of stigmatizing psychiatric labels or potentially harmful medications.
In the book you will find stories of children with all sorts of problems: bullying, school failure, anxiety, depression, school phobia, fears and compulsive behaviors. You will meet two children who had been incorrectly diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and a little boy who had been misdiagnosed with ADHD. And you will see how these children overcame their challenges and got back on track with the help of their families.
