Dr. Laura Kunces
Dr. Laura Kunces, Ph.D., R.D., CSSD, currently serves as a Vice President of Medical Strategy at Thorne and has been a registered dietitian for over 16 years and is a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics. Dr. Kunces works with Thorne’s various professional teams, medical staff, and athletes to personalize health plans for elite human performance outcomes. She also drives the R&D of sport-specific supplements. Her research and clinical background positions her as an expert in using biological biomarkers, physiological measures, and nutritional science to design precision nutrition interventions, and longitudinal tracking in professional, tactical, and amateur athletes using research-backed, multi-omic approaches. Dr. Kunces has authored 25+ peer-reviewed clinical publications focused on diets, supplements, and lifestyle interventions with special forces, athletes in the NFL, MLB, professional soccer, cycling, and triathletes, and has 50+ additional scientific presentations and abstracts. Dr. Kunces earned her PhD from the nationally top-ranked Kinesiology Department at the University of Connecticut with a focus on nutrition. She also holds two master’s degrees: one in Exercise Physiology from the University of Connecticut and one in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Memphis. She is a lifelong athlete, former D1 collegiate swimmer turned ironman triathlete and marathoner.
