Business Game Changers Radio with Sarah Westall: Mission to End Corruption - Represent.us has Over 600,000 Committed Members and Growing FastAccording to Wikipedia, political corruption is the use of powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. Forms of corruption can include bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, influence peddling, embezzlement, and many other forms. According to the new book “The Confessions of Congressman X”, political corruption in Washington is absolutely rampant. The book was written by an anonymous member of congress and displays an ugly picture in Washington. Here are a few notable quotes from the book:

“To be honest, most of my congressional colleagues are dishonest career politicians who revel in the power and special-interest money that’s lavished upon them”

“It’s far easier than you think to manipulate a nation of naïve, self-absorbed sheep who crave instant gratification.”

“We spend money we don’t have and blithely mortgage the future with a wink and a nod. Everything’s for the here and now. Screw the next generation… It’s all about immediate publicity, getting credit now, lookin’ good for the upcoming election.”

“So much of what I do is a farce – bullshit raised to an art form..”

Does this sound like the government you want running our country? Whether you like it or not, this is what we have. Unfortunately, even this book doesn’t go deep enough to explain what is really going on behind the scenes. But it does give you an idea.

This episode of Business Game Changers we are joined by Josh Silver, founder of Represent Us, a non-partisan political and cultural movement determined to end corruption. It’s stated mission is “to pass tough anti-corruption laws in cities and states across America, and end the legalized corruption that has come to define modern politics.”

This movement is no joke. It has over 600,000 committed members and it keeps picking up steam as it goes. The mission was first incubated by professors at two of the most prestigious universities in the country, Stanford and Northwestern University and is being championed by one of the most respected media executives in the country, Josh Silver.

Silver joins us today to explain the mission of his organization, what they aim to achieve, and how they are strategically getting it accomplished. This episode is an eye opening and impressive look into an organization making a true difference in our country.
